Each of us carries within us the burden of our own story, the bits of our lives that need healing, forgiveness, transformation. As we answer the Lenten call to prayer, fasting and almsgiving, we turn to God and trust in God’s grace and mercy.
This Lent we invite you, as pilgrims of hope, to lay your burdens on the Tree of Hope. You are invited to place a purple ribbon on the tree, symbolising what you need to let go of or bring to life within yourself. The tree is a reminder of the wood of the Cross. The life, death and resurrection of Jesus, the Paschal Mystery, is the source of our hope – a hope that does not disappoint.
Near the tree you will see our Parish Candle of Hope. In Holy Week this Parish Candle of Hope will be
carried in the opening procession of the Chrism Mass in Carlow Cathedral when the intentions of people from across the diocese will be prayed for.
